1. Be aware of the recovery process
The more you know about the process, the easier it will be for you. The healing process can be divided into three stages: 1) healing of the surface layer of the skin; 2) peeling of dead skin; 3) reduction of pigment. Within 2-4 weeks after the procedure, you will experience all of these steps. Don’t hesitate to ask our pigmentation professional for more on these steps!
2. Treat your lips gently and do not tear dead skin or scratch your lips.
Do not touch the lips with dirty hands! The skin around the lips can become a little sensitive, especially within 24 hours after pigmentation. After the procedure, small dry pieces of dead skin, blood and pigment may come off the skin. At this stage of healing, the lips are itchy, but by no means should they be torn, scratched or peeled! Pigmented lips should not be watered for the first 1-4 days. When you finally rinse your lips, do it lightly with water, finally pat the area dry.
3. Rub the treatment cream on the lips
During your first treatment, you will be advised to use a treatment cream for your permanently pigmented lips. The treatment cream can be applied 24 hours after treatment with clean hands. Grease your lips thinly in the morning and evening.
4. Precisely protect your new pigments
The lips are susceptible to infection 3-4 days after the procedure. Avoid touching your lips unnecessarily and only grease your lips with clean hands.
Avoid heavy sweating (including sauna) so that the pigment does not leave with the sweat. In swimming pools, swimming should be avoided for 7 days, e.g. due to the high risk of infection. Also, for example, chlorine and other chemicals contained in water can make the pigment fade away faster, or even change the tone of the lips.
Do not put makeup or other cosmetics (except treatment cream) on the lips during the first 7 days.
5. Avoid the tanning bed and the sun
It is not recommended to use the solarium for at least two weeks after pigmentation. This recommendation also applies to the sun. Excessive sun exposure negatively affects the pigment placed on the surface layer of the skin. If the freshly finished permanent pigments receive too much direct sunlight, the pigment will begin to fade away faster than usual and the lips will need a new stronger reinforcement. The skin is also more sensitive to burn in the sun after treatment, so please always protect your lips with SPF 50 sunscreen.
6. Be careful with medical procedures
If you have been a blood donor, tell your pigmentation professional. Also talk to your caregiver if you are going for pigmentation. It takes from 4 to 6 months after the procedure, that the blood returns to its normal state. Normally, it returns to normal after about 1 week. In addition, procedures using different laser techniques can delay the performance of permanent pigments. Also, always tell your doctors about pigmentation before taking any action.
7. No lip makeup or anti-age creams
For at least 7 days after the procedure, we recommend not to use any make-up on the lips. Also, do not use anti-age creams until the lips are completely healed. We recommend keeping all other creams and cosmetics out of the lip area during the healing process.
8. The result after pigmentation may not be final
For the next two days, the pigment will be at its darkest, so don’t be intimidated. The final color of the lips does not turn darker than what it was when you left the treatment.
The pigment fades slightly after the procedure. In permanent lip pigmentations, the Touch Up Appointment may not always be necessary. The price of the “Permanent Lip Pigmentation for the first time” also includes a Touch Up Appointment, which should be done 4-6 weeks after the first treatment.
