Preparing for microblading
- Check out the service information on our website first
- You should be prepared for a little redness, it occurs in almost all customers. However, very severe redness is rare. Different skin types react differently to the procedure, so keep that in mind when making plans for the next few hours after microblading.
- Come to the procedure with light makeup. Do not wear heavy makeup on the same day as the procedure. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear makeup at all. Normal daily light makeup is ok. However, don’t put makeup on your brows.
- Be careful with the following medications. There are a few medications that we do not recommend using for 48 hours before the procedure. However, we do not recommend you to stop taking medicines important to your health without consulting your doctor! If you are unsure about the suitability of your medicine and microblading treatment, please always confirm the suitability of the treatment with your doctor first. For 48 hours before the treatment, we do not recommend aspirin or ibuprofen. We also recommend avoiding medications that have a strong effect on your body. If you use blood thinners, we recommend that you first consult your doctor and your microblading specialist about the matter.
- Do not consume alcohol 48 hours before the procedure and do not drink caffeinated products on the same day. Caffeine accelerates blood circulation and can therefore affect the bleeding of the wound.
- Avoid products with Retin A (tretinoin). If you use products that contain some amount of Retin A, we recommend that you stop using them one month before coming for the microblading procedure. This only applies to the eyebrow area. This also applies to products that contain vitamin A.
- Avoid AHA skin care products before the procedure. Avoid AHA products (products that consist of alpha-hydroxy-acid) for about a week before the procedure. We recommend that you stop using anti-aging products in the eyebrow area two weeks before the procedure.
- Do not donate blood on the same day as the procedure. This can put a strain on your body and you may feel weak. We recommend that you also refrain from donating blood the day after the procedure.
- To achieve the best result in microblading, do not pluck or remove eyebrows with any technique at least one week before the procedure.
- Be open about your allergies, chronic diseases and other things that affect your health. Tell the microblading professional anything you think is even remotely important, as well as any chronic illnesses or allergies you may have. Also list all the things about cosmetics that have had a negative effect on your skin. Be honest about everything that affects your health (NOTE! also pregnancy, breastfeeding, etc.)
Contraindications – Obstacles to microblading
If you suffer from diabetes or are on blood-thinning medication, please check with your doctor first if microblading treatment is suitable for you. If you are breastfeeding, please note that due to the anesthetic we use, you should not breastfeed for about 4 hours after the treatment, so that the anesthetic evaporates from your body completely. For hormonal reasons, the color may not adhere properly.
We do not do microblading:
- If you are using Roaccutan or a similar isotretinoin medication, after Roaccutan you should wait six months before microblading treatment, due to the risk of skin scarring.
- If you are prone to keloid scars.
- If you are pregnant
- If you have a permanent dye, paraphenyldiamine or hair dye allergy, it would be good to find out from your doctor what substance you are allergic to, and whether our microblading pigments contain a potentially allergenic substance.
- If you are allergic to any of the product’s ingredients.
- The skin of the eyebrow area is irritated.
- The age limit for microblading is 18.
Pregnancy / breastfeeding
If the obstacles to the service include pregnancy or breastfeeding, the service cannot be done. It is good to note that hormonal changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect e.g. skin, eyelashes, nails, eyebrows, hair, etc., so if pregnancy or breastfeeding are not mentioned in the barriers to the service, taking treatment measures during pregnancy and breastfeeding is the customer’s own decision and therefore the customer’s responsibility.
Microblading home care instructions
It is especially important to remember to keep the skin and eyebrows clean. Avoid the sun as well as swimming pools, solariums, saunas and heavy sweating during the healing period. Preparation and aftercare instructions are in this same text, please read them carefully as well.
Immediately after the treatment, we apply an aftercare gel to the treated area, which protects your skin for the next 24 hours. During this time, we recommend avoiding washing / letting the skin get wet, so that the pigment adheres to the skin properly. The gel makes a patch-like protection for your skin, allowing your skin to breathe as well.
24 hours after the procedure, gently rinse the eyebrows with water and add the first light layer of treatment cream.
For the next week, take good care of your hygiene, and always add cream two times per day (in the morning and in the evening).
In the coming days, the treated area will develop a slight dry “crust”, and the color will still look dark. The natural cell renewal process causes a slight flaky peeling on the skin. Flakes (slight “crust”) must not be scratched, crushed, scrubbed or picked off. Scraping prevents the pigment from remaining in the tissue and the end result is uneven. The permanent final result is up to 30% lighter than during the first 24 hours.
- Do not scratch or rub the areas treated with the towel.
- The area can be lightly patted. The dry skin comes off on its own.
- Remember, the more carefully you care now, the longer the color will last on the skin.
What should be avoided during the microblading healing process?
For three days:
- Avoid sports and sweating.
For a week:
- Avoid makeup and all other creams except the treatment cream in the brow area.
- Avoid sauna, bathing and swimming.
- Avoid all facial procedures, eyelash extensions, facials, massages, etc.
- Do not scratch, tear or unnecessarily touch the eyebrows.
For a month:
- Avoid sunbathing, solarium and light treatments.
- Avoid chemical peels, acids, micro dermabrasion and skin regenerating creams.
- Also avoid laser treatments in the eyebrow area.
- The use of antibiotics and hormonal medications can cause the pigment to wear off faster.
- Always protect the eyebrows from the sun with sunscreen (not for the first week).
1. Be aware of the recovery phase
The more you know about the process, the easier it will be for you. The healing process can be divided into three stages: 1) healing of the surface layer of the skin; 2) exfoliation of dead skin; 3) reduction of pigment. During 2-4 weeks after the procedure, you will experience all these stages. Don’t hesitate to ask our microblading professionals more about these steps.
2. Treat your brows gently and don’t tear off dead skin
Do not touch the eyebrows with dirty hands! The skin around the eyebrows can become a bit sensitive, especially within 24 hours after microblading. If you want to wash the brows, do it with clean, lukewarm water gently, being careful not to press too hard on the brow area. After the procedure, small dry pieces consisting of dead skin, blood and pigment may come off the skin. At this stage of healing, the eyebrows itch, but they must not be torn or scratched under any circumstances.
3. Use treatment cream into the eyebrows
Grazia cream is the best treatment for eyebrows, as it is created to take care of pigmented areas. The cream can be applied to clean skin 24 hours after the treatment. We recommend lightly rinsing the eyebrows before applying the cream. Excess pigment, dead skin and blood/tissue fluid are washed away, and this way you get clean skin for the cream. Rinse and grease the brows thinly in the morning and in the evening.
4. Carefully protect your new brows for the first 3-4 days
The eyebrows are prone to infection 3-4 days after the procedure. Avoid touching the brows unnecessarily and wash and grease the eyebrows only with clean hands.
Avoid heavy sweating (including sauna) so that the pigment does not come off with the sweat. Swimming in swimming pools should be avoided for approx. 5-7 days, e.g. because of the high risk of infection. Also, for example, chlorine and other chemicals that the water contains may weaken the color retention or even change the color tone in the brows.
Don’t put makeup on the eyebrows during the first 5-7 days.
5. Avoid tanning beds
It is not recommended to use the solarium for at least two weeks after microblading. This recommendation also applies to the sun. Excessive exposure to the sun negatively affects the pigment that is deposited in the surface layer of the skin during the treatment. If the newly completed microblades brows receive too much direct sunlight, the pigment starts to evaporate faster than usual and the brows require a new, stronger reinforcement. The skin is also more sensitive to sunburn after treatment, so always protect your eyebrows with SPF 50 sunscreen. We recommend organic or other low-chemical grease as sunscreen.
6. Be careful with medical procedures
If you have been a blood donor, tell your microblade professional. Also talk to the nurse at the blood donation center if you are going for microblading. Depending on the situation, it takes 4-6 months after the procedure for the blood to return to its normal state. Normally, it returns to normal after approx. 1 week. In addition, procedures that use different laser techniques can delay the creation of microblading. Also, always tell your doctors about the microblading procedure before any kind of procedure.
7. No eyebrow makeup or anti-aging creams
For at least 7-10 days after the procedure, we recommend not to use any kind of makeup in the eyebrows. Also, don’t use anti-aging creams until the brows are completely healed. We recommend keeping all other creams and cosmetic products away from the brow area during the healing process.
8. The result after microblading is not final
For the next two days, the pigment will be at its darkest, so don’t panic. The final color of the eyebrows will not become darker than it was when you left the treatment. The color pigment fades a little after the procedure, when the brows start to heal. Asymmetry or e.g. small holes may appear in the eyebrows. This is completely normal and you don’t need to worry about it, the confirmation session is reserved just for these repairs! Remember that the actual result can only be correctly assessed after confirmation (5-10 weeks after microblading). The Touch Up strengthening treatment should be done no later than 10 weeks after the first treatment. The treatment interval cannot be extended, and unused Touch Up will not be refunded from the price of the treatment.
9. Don’t hesitate to contact microblading professionals
If you have any questions during the healing of the eyebrows, feel free to contact the microblading professionals. If your question concerns the appearance of the brows, please attach a photo of your own eyebrows taken in good light (info@bluelagoon,fi). You can also always come to the beauty salon.
10. After the procedure, the eyebrows are the customer’s responsibility.
After booking an appointment, you agree to follow the preparation and aftercare instructions mentioned above. You also sign a liability release form in our beauty salon before the treatment and confirm that you are 18 years old. So please remember that by following the instructions / properly preparing, the brows will improve quickly and the impression will remain good! Home eyebrow care affects the permanence of eyebrows and lines by about 70%, so carefully follow the instructions given to you.
11. Blue Lagoon quality guarantee
Eyebrows, like all the treatments we offer, have a guarantee. Are in contact with the beauty salon no later than 3 weeks after the confirmation, if you feel that there is something to fix in your eyebrows. Our professionals assess the situation. Please note that after the procedure the skin must heal for at least 5 weeks before a new treatment.
