More information about hair extensions
Hair Extensions
Extensions have become increasingly popular in the past decade. They offer an easy way to add length and volume that looks and feels natural. It’s important to choose the right extension method with a professional to suit your hair type and lifestyle.
Hair Lengthening vs. Hair Volumizing
Hair Lengthening
Hair lengthening is done when you want to add length. You must already have some length to blend the extensions naturally. The number of packs needed depends on your current hair length, thickness, and the desired outcome. Thicker hair requires more extensions to avoid thin-looking ends, while thinner hair needs less. Typically:
- Thin hair: 2–3 packs
- Medium hair: 3–4 packs
- Thick hair: 5 or more packs
A precise number and price will be given during the consultation.
Hair Volumizing
Volumizing is for adding body and fullness without adding length. The extension hair is cut to match your own hair length, which should be at least a bob to blend naturally. Usually, 1–2 packs are used, depending on the desired thickness. The exact quantity and price are determined in the consultation.
Hair Extension Techniques
Tape-in Extensions
A highly popular method due to its quick application and maintenance. Tape-ins can be reused a few times, making them cost-effective for both volume and length.
Maintenance every 6–8 weeks includes:
- Gentle removal using a specific solution
- Replacing the old tape
- Reattaching extensions near the roots
When applied and cared for correctly, tape-ins won’t damage your natural hair.
Mago Extensions
The lightest and gentlest option available. Attached using cotton thread and a double loop knot, Mago extensions are so light they’re often described as completely weightless. They’re suitable for everything from subtle volumizing to dramatic lengthening without damaging your hair.
Maintenance every 3–5 months (based on hair growth and care routine).
- Removal involves snipping one of the threads which loosens the knot and opens it
- Applying new extensions
Coloring or Toning Hair Extensions
Extensions come in a wide variety of shades. The best match is chosen during your consultation. Extensions should not be dyed or toned with oxidative color, as this can damage the hair and void any product warranty. To refresh tone, you may use a suitable color-depositing mask or conditioner. Silver shampoo is also safe to use on extensions.
Hair Extensions & Hair Health
Properly applied, maintained, and cared-for extensions do not damage your natural hair. Regular deep conditioning treatments are recommended for both your natural hair and extensions to maintain health and appearance. We also suggest professional washing and blow-drying to maintain extension quality.
