Career stories
Minna A.
Franchise entrepreneur & beautician, Tampere
“Since I was young, I have liked things related to beauty and I got the idea to study the field. My main interest was in make-up at first, but my interests changed at school. After finishing school, I started thinking about where I would like to apply and I had heard a lot of positive things about Blue Lagoon. I noticed to my delight that there was an open application in Helsinki, and after applying for a position, I got a job.
The best thing about Blue Lagoon is definitely continuous development, high level of training and support. Not to mention a good working community. The idea of having my own BL salon had often crossed my mind, but I didn’t dare to dream about it any further. When this opportunity came, the idea seemed like the right step, and having worked in the field for a long time, I feel that I miss new and different challenges. As a franchise entrepreneur, I feel that I get support that I wouldn’t get if I would have started new beauty business on my own. In Blue Lagoon there is a strong sense of community, where everyone supports each other!”
Anni V.
Nail technician, Pro-level, Kallio
“My path to becoming a nail technician started as a hobby and by studying the techniques myself. I started at Blue Lagoon in 2014 as a trainee. I was absolutely ecstatic that as a hobbyist I was able to join the skilled Blue Lagoon professionals and that the founder believed in me – with her support I developed into a professional nail technician. As my skills increased, my tasks expanded so that I trained new nail technicians for CND Shellac, and soon also in our own trainee program. I started as a service manager for nail services in 2019. The work was rewarding, inspiring and interesting. The job description included the development of the entire service category, training and quality monitoring.
I have always had support at Blue Lagoon no matter what has come my way. For me, Blue Lagoon is like another family – a very big one. It has been wonderful to follow Blue Lagoon’s growth and to be a part of it myself. People here have a huge drive to develop themselves, the industry and the company’s operations. I couldn’t be more grateful for the different work opportunities Blue Lagoon has offered me. Now I’m back to my roots, where it all started: doing nails for my wonderful clients. At the moment, I’m studying another field and working at Kallio’s beauty salon as a pro nail technician alongside my studies.
